We want to remind you of our upcoming coalition meeting on MONDAY, APRIL 29, from 12:30-2:00 PM at Harrisonburg City Hall. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME. Feel free to bring your lunch with you and join us.
In addition to debriefing last month’s Ability Beats event, we will revisit our strategic plan for 2019 that was agreed upon by the attendees at our February meeting. At that meeting, attendees identified a task they wished to lead or support, but you will note some of the tasks still require additional volunteers. WE NEED YOU! At the meeting, we’ll be seeking additional volunteers, getting updates on progress towards our goals, and starting to plan future events. Even if you can’t attend the meeting, please view the Strategic Plan and sign up for one of our planned activities with which you are willing to help.
Speaking of great events, there are no minutes for the April meeting because we held our Ability Beats event in place of our meeting. If you were unable to join us, you missed out on an awesome experience. At least 50 people were present, including many new faces we had not seen before. Our youngest participant was 5 months, and our oldest was 72. Everyone had a good time drumming, dancing, laughing, and experiencing inclusive community-based physical activity. The event was featured as the front page story of the Harrisonburg Daily News Record the following morning ( Link to DNR article ). We also had a JMU photographer there who took lots of great pictures of the event – please check out the Flickr link .
We hope everyone has a great weekend, a blessed Easter (for those who celebrate), and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, April 29th.
